Legal Framework

Terms of Engagement.

By using Hike Load, you acknowledge the inherent risks of backcountry travel and agree to use our tools responsibly.

1. Informational Purpose

The calculators and guides on Hike Load are intended for educational and general planning purposes only. They are based on standardized formulas which may not account for your specific health conditions, experience level, or micro-climatic trail variations.

2. Disclaimer of Liability

Outdoor activities are inherently dangerous. Hike Load, its owners, and its developers shall not be held liable for any loss, injury, death, or equipment damage that occurs while using our tools or as a result of relying on our calculations.

3. Accuracy of Data

While we strive for 100% accuracy in our JavaScript implementations of hiking formulas (such as Naismith's Rule), technical errors can occur. Always verify critical safety data (like hydration and pace) with multiple sources before a trip.

4. Intellectual Property

The visual design, UI/UX structure, and original logic of Hike Load are protected by intellectual property laws. You may use our tools for personal hiking preparation, but the reproduction or scraping of our code for commercial gain is strictly prohibited.

5. User Responsibility

Trail Readiness: You are responsible for ensuring your own physical fitness and technical skills match the trails you plan to hike.

Gear Maintenance: Our tools assume your gear is in good working order. Weight calculations do not account for equipment failure.

Environmental Ethics: We encourage all users to follow "Leave No Trace" principles. Preparation is the first step in protecting the wilderness.
